 Spotify X AJ Tracey

For the launch of AJ Tracey’s sophomore album, Flu Game, we created an online experience for fans to enjoy whilst streaming his new record.

AJ’s album is heavily (heavily) influenced by Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls story from the 90’s - everything from the title through to the visual concept was taken from that iconic period. It’s safe to say, like most of us, The Last Dance on Netflix played a big part in his 2020.

To continue the album’s story, we created a mobile basketball game inspired by the video games of the era. The twist? Our game would take place on a fictitious Revenge Athletic court in AJ’s west London neighbourhood, Ladbroke Grove. We edited real store front from the area and even introduced real tags from The Grove into the scene,

Across 16 levels (to mirror the 16 tracks on the album), players ball it out against recognisable characters from the city. Shoot your shot here.

AJ is hyper engaged with his fans, so we got him to record words of encouragement throughout the game to spur them on with their ballin’.

All of the featured artists on the record were recreated in the game. The further into the game you get, and the more of the album you listen to, the more of them appear to cheer you on courtside.

How we got the client to agree that “The Boss” should be a pig, I really don’t know.

Depending on how well you did in your game, you’d be served up a different basketball card.

Only the greats get GOATs.
